Morangie House Hotel, Tain

This fine Victorian mansion is set on the northern outskirts of the ancient and royal burgh of Tain, one of Scotland's oldest boroughs, within a stunning mountainous landscape.

Built in 1903, this historic hotel’s grand design and spacious, luxurious and elegant rooms provide accommodation of the highest quality and comfort. The building has been extensively modernised, carefully refurbished and tastefully decorated to maintain its original character of graciousness. The hotel prides itself on the calibre of its well-trained staff and the warmth of its welcome.

It makes for an ideal base for outdoor pursuits and sporting activities such as golf, shooting, fishing or enjoying the local tourist attractions. Such a convenient location is perfect for travelling around the beautiful highlands of Scotland.

Contrary to belief, Scotland's weather is not always cold and miserable, and there is beauty in each season in this lovely country. Easter Ross, the area in which the hotel is situated, enjoys one of the lowest rainfall totals in Britain.

Tain is a 40 minute drive north of Inverness. This hotel is the perfect venue from which to explore the highlands, go fishing, enjoying one of the many golf courses in the area or simply experiencing a short break.

Described as the north of Scotland’s premier hotel, the Morangie House Hotel is a Victorian building, with a more modern extension added on. Set in its own grounds, just 5 minutes from the town centre, the hotel has maintained its original character, while meeting the needs of the modern business person or traveller.

The Morangie returned to private ownership in April 2008, after a number of years as a company-owned chain hotel. Shearer Hotels are a third generation Highland family with 14 years experience in the hotel business. Today, the hotel offers warm highland service with good local knowledge. Staff are attentive, obliging, honest and friendly.

The hotel has 26 well-appointed rooms, all of which feature all the modern comforts and facilities you need in a comfortable and relaxing base.

Decanters are provided in each room; however, because of health and safety regulations, you must provide your own sherry.
