Esseborne Manor Hotel, Andover

Our Victorian country house sits high on a hill above the lovely Bourne Valley amid the splendour of the North Wessex Downs.

A private country retreat for 80 years, Esseborne now boasts 19 individually decorated bedrooms. All rooms overlook our gardens and farmland beyond and have double beds, en suite facilities as well as satellite TV and a DVD player.

Hurstbourne Tarrant is at the very centre of some of the finest shooting and fishing in Britain, and we have been cited as 'one of the more civilised places to stay and savour the good things of life after a day in the Hampshire countryside'.

There are numerous activities in the area, ranging from beautiful countryside walks and drives through the thatched villages to golf, horse riding, flying or race car driving.

We have arrangements with the nearby 27-hole Hampshire Golf Club and the Newbury Cannon Fitness Centre.

Esseborne is an ideal base for day trips to the many lovely gardens and houses in the South, and such historic places as Salisbury, Winchester, Stonehenge, Highclere Castle and Broadlands, which is the former home of the late Lord Louis Mountbatten.

Once referred to as being 'invitingly snug'. Esseborne Manor is small, unpretentious, yet stylish. It is set amidst the splendour of the North Wessex Downs, close by the lovely Bourne Valley, in an area designated one of outstanging natural beauty.

The house, which for over 100 years has been a country retreat, stills retains the feel of a private home with a friendly host, warm and caring staff, and bedrooms where you are pampered with fluffy towels and home made bisuits.

The Dining Room with its fabric lined walls provide a warm and elegant setting for our chefs outstanding cuisine. Using local produce and herbs from our own herb garden, he produces traditional English cuisine with modern variations.

A carefully chosen range of wines provides the ideal accompniment to your meal.

The bright and airy lounge decorated in soft summer shades is ideal for your afternoon tea and after dinner drinks or you may prefer to curl up with a good book in our library and savour one of our fine selections of malts from the bar.

During the summer, drinks and dining on the patio overlooking sheep meadows is a fine way to spend a lazy summer day.

We have 19 individually decorated and furnished bedrooms: 11 in the main house, 6 spacious rooms in the courtyard and 2 rooms in the garden cottages.
