• Parador de Benavente

  Benavente - This Renaissance castle was originally built by King Fernando II of León and once hosted the royal court. Nowadays you can relax amongst its regal splendor and historic atmosphere.
  
  The Parador de Benavente is set in beautiful gardens in the old part of the city. Although much of the original building was destroyed during the Spanish War of Independence, you can still roam though its huge tower and other Moorish-Christian rooms. Most of these feature rich tapestries, decorative ceilings and ornate lamps – all adding to the authentic feel.
  
  Enjoy a refreshing dip and the fresh air of the León countryside in the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool. You can then head to the Parador restaurant to try the selection of hearty local dishes on offer.
  
  The Parador forms part of Benavente’s old town, and is set within the old city walls. The building’s most striking feature is the tower, the Torre del Caracol – built in the traditional Spanish way from wood beams and bricks.
  
  The castle hosted the royal court (Las Cortes) of León in the year 1202.
